COVID-19 Response & Procedures:
Our four daycare centers were selected to open for essential workers April 6 2020- June 2020.
Our team has gained three months additional experience working within the new regulations and procedures.
We have successfully followed all health and safety guidelines:
• smaller group sizes and people in each room, increased sanitization measures,
• limited people inside the center at one time, differing protocols for drop-off and pick up
• to increase the ability of social distancing, sanitizing the playground after each cohort uses it as well as sanitizing and disinfecting high touch surfaces.
Parents must take their child’s temperature before they come in to ensure that it is in the normal ranges. The child’s temperature may also be checked upon arrival with an infrared thermometer with a quick scan of the forehead to ensure it is in the normal range. There will also be a screening questionnaire that asks about symptoms that needs to be answered by parents every morning (takes about 20 seconds to fill out).
Please be advised that health guidelines state that any child, staff or parent must not enter the facility if they are sick, or have any symptoms resembling even a mild cold. Symptoms to look for include but are not limited to: fever, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, runny nose, nasal congestion, headache, diarrhea and a general feeling of being unwell.
Anyone who has been in contact with someone who has COVID-19 will not be permitted into the facility.
If a child develops symptoms while at daycare the child will be isolated in a separate room and the parents will be notified to come and pick up the child immediately. If a separate room is not available, the child needs to be kept at least 2 meters away from other children.
For reference, Normal Temperatures are:
• Mouth: 35.5-37.5°C (95.9-99.5°F)
• Underarm: 36.5-37.5°C (97.7-99.5°)
• Ear (not recommended in infants): 35.8-38.0°C (96.4-100.4°F)
Please also keep drop off and pick up to a minimum (less than 5 minutes) as we are only allowed to have a maximum number of people in the center/rooms at one time. Please note that we will be sharing any new information from the government with any changes as soon as we receive it.
We have limited space that we are allowed to have available during the pandemic so it is imperative that if you require a space you register quickly. This will guarantee you your space for your start date.
Rest assured we are strictly following all of Alberta Health Services requirements to ensure the health and safety of our children and families 🙂
Sincerely,
Educational Daycare Group
